Choose somebody, dead or alive,
that you would ask one question to if you could. Who would you choose? What
would you ask?
If I had
the opportunity to sit down with Randy Pausch and ask only one question, I
absolutely would. He was the write of “The Last Lecture” at Carnegie Mellon
University. If I could ask one question and one question only, I think it would
be: “How did you manage to live such a successful, humble life and balance all
of the things that were most important to you?”
It’s a
pretty broad question, but I can only imagine his answer. His whole lecture is
about pursuing your dreams and never giving up, even if the going gets tough.
Throughout his entire time speaking, he comes off as completely humble. Yes, he
was very successful. But, more than just talking about his successes, he
describes his trials and failures that led him to the opportunities he
experienced in his lifetime.
Through his
humble personality and life successes, he talks about having balance in all of
the important aspects of his life and never giving up on the things you want to
achieve. His wife and children were the most important things to him, and he
wanted to do what was best for his family as a whole. He worked hard to make a
living that he was proud of, and left a legacy behind that can’t ever be
forgotten.
